Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba will take the hot seat at Parliament’s Inquiry into Eskom on Tuesday. However, there is still no confirmation whether former South African Airways Board Chair Dudu Myeni and Gupta family members will join Gigaba in appearing before the committee, as expected.

Myeni has snubbed the inquiry on at least two occasions.

Last week, on the morning of her scheduled appearance, she informed the inquiry chair that she was unable to travel to Cape Town due to illness.

The committee’s patience with Myeni is running thin while it is also still awaiting a response from the Gupta’s lawyers on whether anyone from the family will honour the committee’s invitation this week.

“Dudu Myeni is one of the persons that has been mentioned in the dismissal of the Executive of Eskom, the likes of Tshediso Matona and others. Apparently she was part of the key roleplayers of the people who dismissed those executive members, yet she was a chairperson of SAA. That’s what we wanted to hear from her; what was her role in Eskom,” said Eskom Inquiry Chairperson Zukiswa Rantho.
