Justice Minister Michael Masutha says the regulations for the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into State Capture will provide the legal machinery that will enable Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo to obtain the resources he requires to perform his functions.

Masutha announced on Friday that President Jacob Zuma’s regulations had been published in the Government Gazette.

The commission was established in line with the remedial action of the former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela in her State of Capture report.

Masutha explains, “Once the Chief Justice gets this thing underway, he is going to determine what is needed and then we will ensure that the resources to support that are made available. Treasury has undertaken to assist us in resourcing any additional resources that may be needed, but overall, government has committed itself to provide whatever necessary resources that he may require.”
