South Africa reports 28 new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 397. According to the Health Department the total number of confirmed cases is at 20 125, and total recoveries at 10 104.

The Department says this is an increase of 988. The Western Cape remains the province with the highest numbers with 64% of cases and 65% of deaths.

The majority of fatalities are from the Western Cape where 22 people succumbed to COVID-19 related complications.

The Eastern Cape had 3 deaths, Gauteng recorded 2 and one person died in KwaZulu-Natal.

The other five provinces haven’t recorded any new deaths.
