June 16 survivors speak to SABC

A large number of people lost their lives during and after the June 16, 1976 massacre. Two survivors of that fatal day spoke to SABC’s Palesa Kobedi.
Fanya Mazibuko was a teacher at the Morris Isaacson School. This is where the students first gathered to organize the June 16 protest. He relays the eventsof that horrific day.

Sipho Singisiwa was a student in Gugulethu when the June 16 event unfolded. He was later detained and arrested for participating in defying campaigns against the apartheid system especially being taught in Afrikaans. Click below to listen to Singiswa’s story.
