Former Elias Motsoaledi Municipal Mayor, Julia Mathebe, has been elected as the Chairperson of African National Congress (ANC) Sekhukhune region, in Limpopo.
She has defeated the former Chairperson and current District Executive Mayor, Stan Ramaila.
The regional elective conference ended on Thursday night.

Mathebe was in charge of the Elias Motsoaledi Municipality which had invested R190 million in the defunct VBS mutual bank.
The Municipality Managed to withdraw its investment before the mutual bank collapsed but it has lost R48 000 in interest.
ANC Spokesperson in Limpopo, Donald Selamola says they are excited to have the first female Regional Chairperson in the province.
“It is a very groundbreaking thing that cde Julia emerged as the first female Regional Chair of the ANC in the province. It is a commendable thing. We’re very delighted as the provincial ANC that our process of ensuring to put women in leadership positions is starting to reach fruition and we’re very confident that the new leadership will push the renewal agenda forward,” adds Selamola.
