A Pietermaritzburg woman has climbed the highest Uhuru Peak of the Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania dressed in a traditional Saree, in a bid to cast the spotlight on Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

Judy Umraw embarked on the grueling climb in her traditional attire with pledges attached to the garment.

Umraw says proceeds of the climb will go towards two KwaZulu-Natal charities.

“The main purpose or focus of the climb for charity which we ladies called Mzansi warriors in Pietermaritzburg decided to climb for two charities. Both are early childhood education based organisations which are NPOs that help in development in early childhood education.”
