Judgment reserved in Tshegofatso Pule's murder case

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Judgment has been reserved in the Tshegofatso Pule murder case in the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg. This is after both the state and defence submitted closing arguments.
Ntuthuko Shoba has been accused of being the mastermind behind Pule’s murder. She was killed when she was eight months pregnant.
The state says it has proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt. However, the defence says there were flaws in the investigation.
Defence lawyer Norman Makhubela says the state has not been able to prove that Ntuthuko Shoba had a hand in Pule’s murder.
Makhubele says the state relied heavily on a version that was provided by convicted killer Muzi Malepane, who they contend has been an unreliable witness.
Makhubela, therefore, submitted that the court should reject his version of events.
However, the state feels they have proven their case beyond a reasonable doubt. State prosecutor Faghre Mohammed says prior to Pule’s murder, Shoba was in communication with Malepane on his registered phone and the disputed phone. The state says both phones were in the same vicinity on about five occasions.
Closing arguments in Tshegofatso Pule’s case:

Now, it is up to acting judge Stuart Wilson to go through all evidence before delivering judgment.
