The Judicial Conduct Tribunal Hearing of the Judge President of the Western Cape High Court John Hlophe has been postponed indefinitely.

The hearing that was supposed to start on Monday morning was related to allegations that Hlophe attempted to influence Constitutional Judges in a case involving former President Jacob Zuma.

The postponement comes after one of the three members of the tribunal, Bloemfontein high court Judge Cagney Musi recused himself following Judge Hlophe’s objection to his participation in the Tribunal.

Judge Musi confirmed to the Tribunal that he had received Hlophe’s notice of motion on Monday.

The refusal was followed by heated arguments with Hlophe’s legal team taking exception to Judge Musi’s remarks that the hearing has been plagued by controversy.
