Jovial crowd commemorates Youth Day in Galeshewe

The mood in Galeshewe Stadium in Kimberley is jovial as the crowd grows for the Youth Day commemoration.
Some of the young people are dressed in their school uniform in remembrance of the events of 38 years ago when protesting scholars were fired upon by Apartheid police.
Masego Mogorosi says she’s grateful for what the youth of 1976 have done for them.
House, kwaito and Afro beats from the DJ, along with musical numbers from prisoners from the Tswelopele Correctional Services have kept people on the grandstands on their feet.
Meanwhile, many entrepreneurs have already set up their equipment.
Some of them come from as far as Johannesburg.
Thirty-five-old entrepreneur Limdumiseni Ncube, says he came all the way from Johannesburg to sell his merchandise outside the stadium.
Ncube in selling ANC branded hats, T-shirts and caps.
“We arrived here [Kimberley] this morning just after 5am. We are hoping to make R3000 from the merchandise we are selling.”
