Johannesburg reopens public pools

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The City of Johannesburg has announced the reopening of most swimming pools that were closed due to a chemical shortage.

The shortage of the chemicals which are used to keep the water suitable for swimming, led to the closure of at least five of the city’s public pools leaving residents frustrated.

Saturday the ANC criticised the closures saying it is a gross disservice to those who are disadvantaged.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development Nonhlanhla Sifumba says she is happy that the issue has been resolved.

“Three of the five pools that were closed are now open with the exception of Sydenham and Eastbank swimming pool,” says Sifumba.
