The three men will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Thursday next week to apply for bail.

A man who allegedly is Johannesburg’s most wanted property hijacking kingpin, and two suspected accomplices have been arrested. The trio are implicated in the hijacking of at least eight buildings in the Johannesburg area.

Lucky Sindane, the city’s spokesperson for forensic and investigation services, says the alleged kingpin has been convicted of fraud and impersonating a police officer in the past.

The three men will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 4 January 2018,  to apply for bail.

“The kingpin approached quite a number of people who live in different buildings, and he would impersonate an investigating officer in the property space. He would make the tenants of that building to turn against the lawful owner of that building. So he would say that the owners have hijacked the buildings and he’s there to investigate the case. He never collected rent but he collected money for investigation,” says Sindane.
