The City of Johannesburg will on Saturday launch its monthly clean-up campaign. The aim of the monthly clean-up volunteer campaign is to inspire a sense of community and accountability.

The City’s Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba together with community leaders and various stakeholders want to discourage littering in the city.

The largest component of this campaign will focus on cleaning the City to position it as a job-creating investment and a City which its residents can be proud to call home.

Mashaba says if you want to build the country, make sure that the country is clean.

He says: “Make sure that there is public safety, make sure people have got pride in their country and in the process you encourage investment.”

He has urged the residents to join #Aresebetse campaign.

“We are starting in corner Kotze and Klein street in Yeoville walking down. It is going to culminate at Fitzgerald square. We are starting at 8-am until 5-pm moving until Hillbrow and then to the city centre. All the streets will be closed. We are expecting a maximum of 3 000 people,” says Mashaba.
