The Johannesburg Emergency Services has advised motorists to drive cautiously for the rest of Sunday evening, due to wet and slippery road conditions.
Several roads across the city have also been flooded as a result of the heavy downpour earlier on Sunday afternoon.
The wet and rainy conditions are expected to pass by Monday.
Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says: “We can confirm that at this stage no major incidents have been reported that are related to the cold and wet weather conditions throughout the City of Johannesburg.”
“We just want to encourage our motorists to be cautious on the roads as roads are wet and slippery. And to make sure they avoid flooded roads and bridges so we can avoid incidents where vehicles are swept away.”
