African National Congress (ANC) Deputy Secretary-General, Jessie Duarte has been placed on medical leave following gastrointestinal complications.
Duarte who has been serving as the party’s deputy Secretary-General for nine years was admitted to hospital on Sunday.
In a statement released by the ANC, her party wished her a speedy recovery and indicated that her duties will continue with the help of other NEC members based at the party’s headquarters.

Party President, Cyril Ramaphosa also paid a visit to the 68-year-old.
