Reading Time: < 1 minute

Some learners in Ventersdorp, North West say news that JB Marks will be reburied in their area is an inspiration for them to work hard to become influential in society.

Rorisang Montsho, grade 12 learner at the Thuto Boswa High School in Tshing township says he is proud to be a resident of the home area of the late SACP and ANC struggle hero.

Ventersdorp is known as the home town of right-wing leader Eugene Terreblanche of the AWB, but Montsho says Marks’ reburial in their area will change perceptions about their town.

Meanwhile, some members of the AWB in the area say they hope the re-burial of JB Marks in the area will make black and white people to live together in harmony. Former AWB member, Andre Delport, says Mark’s reburial should heal divisions of the past.

The mortal remains of the late SACP and ANC leader will buried in Ventersdorp tomorrow.

JB Marks passed away in 1972 in Moscow, Russia.
