The annual Jazz on the Rocks festival at Tietiesbaai kicks off on the Cape West Coast this weekend. The organisers say many of Cape Town and South Africa’s top and most popular artists are on the eclectic programme of the ninth annual jazz fest in the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve.
One of the highlights this year is a special tribute to the late jazz icon, Hugh Masekela titled, “We Love Hugh”. The promoters believe the location of the fest, which enables music lovers to swim, kayak, sunbathe or fish while soaking up cool jazz music, is the draw card for the event’s popularity.
The festival, one of the Cape’s most popular music happenings, has over the past seven years injected over R800 million into the local community.
