The music industry has joined South Africans in paying tribute to late Public Service Minister Collins Chabane who died in a car crash on Sunday.

Jazz musician Don Laka, who shared the stage with Chabane on numerous occasions, says he was an amazing musician.

“We have performed in several festivals in Limpopo. He was such a nice person, his phone was always open, he was easy to get, we kept talking about producing his album and his daughter’s album. He’s got a gifted daughter with such a talent also, you would say it’s a musical family, but he was such an outstanding musician.”

Chabane learned to play the harmonica during his incarceration on Robben Island.
Jonas Shikundamalima, close friend of Chabane, says he never thought he would cope living in an urban area.
