Jacobs appointed as Crime Intelligence Head

National Police Commissioner General Khehla Sitole says the newly appointed Crime Intelligence head Major General Anthony Jacobs is a clean officer.

Jacobs is among the four new senior appointees in the police service, who have been unveiled by Police Minister Bheki Cele in Pretoria.

At the time of his appointment Jacobs was the cluster commander in the Wynburg in the Western Cape.

He takes over the position which had been open for years now, as its former boss, Richard Mdluli remained on suspension for six years while on trial for murder and kidnapping.

Mdluli was relieved of his duties in January 2018. Sitole says Jacobs has undergone necessary vetting processes.

“General Jacobs has been screened and has also been taken to evaluation and he’s a clean appointee. It has never been necessary for anyone to ask me to ask anyone to try and withdraw anything him against him to clean him up, I think he’s clean and he’s a clean appointment.”
