It is not about the German coaches: Zinnbauer

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer says the Soweto derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs is not about German coaches.

Zinnbauer will come up against his compatriot Ernst Middendorp for the first time when the two teams clash in a league match at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The match has been billed the battle of the Germans in the football fraternity.

Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer on the battle of the Germans:

Pirates are the dark horses to win the league after registering six wins in a row and a draw to collect 19 out of possible 21 points.

They are currently lying 3rd on the log with 39 points in 21 matches.

Chiefs, on the other hand, are on top with 45 points in 20 matches.

Zinnbauer says they are not favourites to win the league.

Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer on the title:

Pirates have not won any silverware in more than five years. They have already missed out in all the knockout competitions this season, only left with the league title.

Zinnbauer says their focus is not to win the league but to improve the team for next season.

Zinnbauer says his focus is on next season:

The Buccaneers have not kicked a ball in close to 10 days. They were not in action last weekend since they are not involved in the Nedbank Cup.

Zinnbauer would have preferred to play a match to prepare for the Soweto Derby.

Zinnbauer on the Soweto Derby preparation:

The German will be involved in his first derby, while some of the players have never taken part in the derby or are still inexperienced.

Zinnbaeur says he will make sure that the big occasion does not intimidate him and his players.
