A South African is believed to be part of a group of foreigners that have been abducted in Libya.

The four foreign engineers were working for the Turkish construction firm Enka. They were kidnapped in southwest Libya on Friday.

Officials say three men were from Turkey and one from South Africa. They were seized while travelling from the airport to a power plant. There has been no claim of responsibility for the incident.

The International Relations Department says it’s investigating this matter. Department spokesperson Nelson Kgwete has confirmed the investigation.
