Deputy-Director Ella Govender, who managed former president Nelson Mandela’s
presidential residences from 1995 to 1999. Govender says Mandela has given
South Africans a lot to which they can look forward.

Specialist radio reporter Angie Kapelianis interviews Altron Director Barbara Masekela about her working relationship and experience of former president Nelson Mandela. She says Mandela has always been the same person despite his change in stature.

In the 1990s, Masekela was Mandela’s ANC Chief of Staff and his ambassador to France and Unesco. Both of them celebrate their birthday today. Mandela is now 93-years old, while Masekela turned 70.

Carolus says Mandela has always lived with a sense of
“enoughness”. Carolus worked closely with Mandela in both the
ANC and government in the 1990s.
