INFOGRAPHIC | Renewed COVID-19 protocol adherence urged, as numbers increase

The Department of Health says it has heightened its surveillance at various ports of entry amid fears of a third wave of the coronavirus.

It says there are isolated cases of the virus coming into the country – mainly at marine ports of entry and COVID-19 protocols are being implemented.

Director General Sandile Buthelezi says they are monitoring the rate of increase in infections in Gauteng, the Free State, the Northern Cape and the North West.

People are urged to continue wearing masks, practicing social distancing and regular hand-washing to stop the spread of the coronavirus. It is also advisable to avoid enclosed spaces with poor ventilation as well as to avoid large crowds of people.
