India says its business relationships with SA will not be altered just because of the dealings of one family.

India says its business relations with South Africa remain intact despite bad publicity brought about by the Gupta family.

Speaking to the media, High Commissioner to India in South Africa, Ruchira Kamboj says its history with South Africa, especially in regards to its struggle heroes, is more important than a scandal driven by one Indian family.

The speakers were briefing the media at the India-SA business summit underway in Sandton, north of Johannesburg.

“India and South Africa share a very string history over two hundred years old . You will also recall that in 1947 India was the first country to inscribe apartheid under the united nations, and in 1993 was one of the first country to re establish diplomatic relations with South Africa. What I’m trying to say is this relationship is very old. And that relationship has not been build under the relationship of one family. ” Kamboj says.

The Gupta family has been under constant spotlight as of late, mainly for the revelations of their dealings with politicians and the use of state capture, or the illegal soliciting of government funds for personal use.

Several Gupta properties in South Africa have been seized or raided in efforts to investigate the family over these corrupt matters, as well as search for more evidence of any wrongdoing.
