Independent doctor to examine Angelo Agrizzi: NPA

The National Prosecuting Authority’s Investigating Directorate has asked that an independent doctor examine Angelo Agrizzi – former COO of the controversial procurement company Bosasa.

This comes after Agrizzi again did not appear in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court for the fraud case relating to R800 000.

The spokesperson for the NPA-ID, Sindisiwe Seboka, says Agrizzi failed to appear before the court for 9-month citing ill health.

“The court has issued a warrant for his arrest, stayed until the next appearance next month. The court, through the state’s request, will acquire the services of an independent physician.

Agrizzi stands accused of offering gratification on behalf of BOSASA to former Parliamentarian Vincent Smith in exchange for his influence, as the then chairperson of Parliament’s oversight committee on Correctional Services. Bosasa scored contracts totaling just over R1 billion from Correctional Services between 2004 and 2007,” explains Seboka.
