Ikwekwezi FM launches pop-up online station

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In a first of its kind for the SABC radio stations, Ikwekwezi FM has launched the first ever pop up online radio station, Centenary Radio.

The platform is accessible by clicking www.sabc.co.za/centenaryradio and will broadcast twice weekly, Wednesdays and Thursdays only between 15h00-18h00.

The station which went on air for the first time on 04 July, will focus on topics and content relating to South Africa’s struggle icons.

Ikwekwezi FM’s Branco Nkambule and Sibusiso Skhosana will be the main anchors, utilising mixed languages, with a strong feel of both English and IsiNdebele. The two multi talented radio presenters will continuously invite guest presenters to the radio station to create an interesting twist and appeal to a vast majority of audiences.

True to living Nelson Mandela’s legacy, the station will start off by paying homage in the month of July, by focusing on the life of the former statesman. The station will be used as a platform to have in-depth discussions on topics relating to Nelson Mandela from birth.

This will run from July until December 2018, thereafter content shift to other topical issues. Music lovers will be enticed with an interesting twist of political struggle songs and other locally produced traditional music.
