Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Inkatha Freedom Party is due to launch its election manifesto on Thursday at the Greyville Racecourse in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

The launch is being held in the run-up to the November Local Government Elections. The IFP’s National Spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa says they are ready.

“We are very ready. I think we must say that in as much as we said we wanted the elections postponed for health considerations, we did set into motion plans and preparations for candidate selection and that is why we met the deadline and did not need to come in through the back window. Now it is all systems go. This morning, we will be launching our campaign bus. Our structures have been interacting and engaging with communities and tonight we will be presenting a 10-point-plan manifesto which is responding directly to the issues of local government.”

The party launched its election campaign earlier this month.

During the launch, IFP Deputy President Mzamo Buthelezi said they have carefully selected men and women with integrity to serve the people of eThekwini.

“It is also a special occasion personally for each and every candidate who was nominated through our structures to lead in their respective wards and who we as leadership of the party carefully selected to make sure that the team of aspirant leaders setting the support of the residents of eThekwini are truly made up of values of the IFP.”
