The Inkatha Freedom Party has conveyed their condolences to the family of the late National Freedom Party leader, Zanele Ka-Magwaza-Msibi. She was 59-years-old.

Her passing away was confirmed by NFP MP, Achmed Shaik Emam. Emam says she on Monday morning after being hospitalised at Umhlanga Hospital in Durban.

Ka-Magwaza-Msibi has been unwell since she suffered a stroke in 2014.

IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa says Magwaza-Msibi’s work during her time as mayor in the Zululand District municipality speaks volumes.

“The NFP leader Ka-Magwaza-Msibi played a crucial role during the time when she was a member of the IFP and a mayor of Zululand District; she left a mark when she was the mayor of the IFP. May her family find consolation when they look at the work she left behind her name because we spent most of our time in the IFPYB as well as the IFPWB. She is one of the people grown up by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. We wish her a peaceful rest till we meet again.”

Inkatha Freedom Party spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa says Ka-Magwaza-Msibi political home was the IFP.

“We put our banners down in honour of her life and we offer our condolences to her family. She was the daughter of Prince Buthelezi. He moulded and groomed her and I am sure that as we were communicating with the family during her time of illness and hoping and praying that she was well, we will be in constant communication now because the IFP was her primary political home.”

IFP spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa speaks on Ka-Magwaza-Msibi’s passing:

Ka-Magwaza-Msibi was a high-ranking member of the IFP before breaking off to form her own political party.
