In KwaZulu-Natal, the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) is confident that residents will vote for change in the upcoming poll.

The party’s provincial premier candidate, Velenkosini Hlabisa, says his party will ensure that corruption and maladministration is rooted out. He was addressing a rally in Ndwedwe, north of Durban.

The IFP recently announced it wants to regain control of the province of KZN. The party once governed the province between 1994 and 2004.

It says it is now fixing its sights firmly on taking control of the province. With just over 30 days left before the elections its campaigns is in full swing.

Hlabisa bemoaned the abuse of state institutions for political gain. Party supporters say unemployment is their main priority.

KwaZulu-Natal has more than 6 million eligible voters.
