The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has appealed to all eligible voters to make use of the final weekend registration this Saturday 8 February and Sunday 9 February to register or verify their registration for this year’s upcoming national and provincial elections.
In his interview with SAfm’s AM Live, IEC Chief Electoral Officer, Mosotho Moepya, says all systems have been put into place to ensure for a smooth registration process.
Moepya says the registration proceedings in the correctional services have also run smoothly and will be concluded on Friday evening.
The IEC will work throughout the weekend to make the overall registration number available to the public on Monday.
Since the last registration weekend held in November 2013, the IEC says it has focused substantial energy in increasing the opportunity for all South Africans who are eligible to vote to apply to register as voters.
