Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng and his panel will continue with interviews on Tuesday for three Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) Commissioners, following marathon interviews at his offices in Midrand, Johannesburg on Monday.

26 candidates were shortlisted.

Mogoeng also heard that the IEC would not be able to comply with the Constitutional Court deadline for the voters roll.

The country’s highest court ruled that the IEC had until June 30th to ensure that all voters’ addresses were featured on the voters roll.

Commissioner Bongani Finca made the admission while being interviewed for another term saying they were seeking an extension.

South Africa’s national elections next year are expected to be the most closely contested in the country’s democratic history.

The ANC saw its elections support drop dramatically in many areas in the local government elections of 2016.
