The Electoral Commission (IEC) says it expects 90 % of the vote to be declared by 10pm on Thursday, as over 50 % of the national vote has been counted and declared.
The ANC is in the lead nationally with around 56 % of the vote, followed by the DA with over 23 % and the EFF with over 9 %.
The IEC says it will conduct an audit to establish whether there was double voting at specific polling stations.
IEC CEO, Sy Mambolo, has confirmed that at least four people have been arrested for double voting so far. The electoral body has seven days to verify the integrity of the elections.
