The Independent Electoral Commission has dismissed calls from certain political party sectors for a recount of Monday’s vote. The IEC has briefed the media in Pretoria at the Elections Results Centre, saying 96.6% of voting districts have been captured and are now in the process of being verified. The IEC says once ballot boxes have been counted, they are sealed and stored for 6 months. The Commission says demands for a recount must have valid grounds and can only be affected with an appropriate court order.
