IEC confirms 12 million voters in 2021 LGE

The IEC confirmed on Thursday that 12 million South Africans voted in the 2021 municipal elections. Voter turnout was approximately 45.79%.

Past turnout in municipal elections:

  • 2016 – 57.94%
  • 2011 – 57.6%
  • 2006 – 48.40%
  • 2000 – 47.33%
