Orlando Pirates interim coach Rhulani Mokwena says he is prepared to die so that his team can finally win silverware.
Pirates have not won a trophy for more than four years in a long drought. The Buccaneers will host Stellenbosch FC in a Telkom Knockout first round match on Saturday.
Mokwena has won only one match in seven games since he took over from Milutin “Micho” Srejodevic.
The 34-year old is one of the youngest coaches to lead Pirates. It is also remarkable because it is his first coaching job in the elite league.
He used to be an assistant coach at Mamelodi Sundowns under Pitso Mosimane. He says he is grateful for the opportunity.
Coach @TheRealPitso on coach Rhulani Mokwena:
“I’m proud to see a guy like Rhulani, so much maturity. He speaks as if he has been doing this job for a while. It’s a proud moment for me. I’m sure Ted Dumitru can say same thing about me.I’m sure Jomo Sono can say the same#TKO2019 pic.twitter.com/7KgQFMokfv— Official PSL (@OfficialPSL) October 17, 2019
The league has been in recess for several weeks due to the FIFA international break as well as the MTN8 final.
Pirates have been struggling this season and Mokwena says the break has helped them to fix their mistakes. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
