‘I am grateful to have gotten something from this democracy’

“I am grateful to have gotten something from this democracy.

The accessibility to land, and who owns the land has been a heated discussion point for several years. Government has tried various methods to give land to the previously disadvantaged, to those who work the land, to those who were forcefully removed and to those who had their rights violated during the apartheid times.

Nokwanele Ivy Mzamo (48), grew up on a farm and worked as a general laborer from 1996.  She believes more should be done for more people to have access to land.

“I am grateful to have gotten something from this democracy. The mere fact of having land, these are TV and book topics and yet, in reality, people are not getting land…”
