Though they enjoyed a four-match unbeaten run that has yielded 10 points out of 12 when they beat Baroka FC 3-1 this past weekend, Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt pins their failure to win their second Absa Premiership title in three seasons to their poor results in the second half of the campaign.

The win against Baroka almost ensures Wits will likely finish third and compete in CAF’s Confederation Cup next season. Hunt laments the poor home record.

At home Wits collected 23 points instead of 45 that were on offer in 15 matches this season.

Wits were in with a good shot at clinching the league right until they played their third-last game against SuperSport United where they had a legitimate goal denied by referee Phelelani Ndaba who was since been suspended by SAFA for three months.

Adding to that, The Clever Boys also suffered a blow when Mamelodi Sundowns were let off the hook for inappropriately fielding Wayne Arendse.

Having dropped Keet for the last five games and going with Ricardo Goss, Hunt says he had no choice but to bring him on after Goss got sent off against Baroka FC.

Strongly on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs, Keet spent five seasons in Belgium at KV Kortrijk between 2011 and 2016 and has made no secret of his hopes to move back overseas. Hunt says Keet should now make up his mind.

Two months ago‚ Keet was on the radar of Azerbaijan club FK Qarabag‚ who Dino Ndlovu previously played for in the UEFA Champions League.

With Keet certain to leave The Clever Boys, Hunt has wasted no time in bolstering his goalkeeping department by signing 24-year-old Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Brendan Peterson.
