Hundreds march for consensus at climate change talks

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The My Planet My Choice organization says it is participating in the civil society march to fight for basic rights. Hundreds of people from across the world are participating in the protest as a call to the COP17 conference underway in the city to reach reasonable consensus on measures against climate change. –> The My Planet My Choice organisation is in partnership with the Tshwane municipality and the SA Chefs Association to conscientise people about green living. Project Manager for Green Art, Nnolo Morudi says the partnership intends to teach and feed people through its Good Food, Good Mood initiative. Youths will be given a chance to open business stalls and have their own franchises. Morudi says they are part of the march as they believe that through dialogue and interactions there can be a better future. Green Art and Tshwane provide aesthetics to the youth to provide eco-awareness. The movement plans to paint 60 locations, buildings and walls. They have identified among others, the Gautrain pillars as you enter Pretoria as well as the University of Pretoria walls. They are still waiting for the Tshwane municipality to identify other landmarks to be painted.

Another of the My Choice My Planet initiative is the clean music campaign where they encourage collaboration among youths from Tshwane townships. The idea is to compose music with clean lyrics, says Morudi – music that does not promote vulgar language, alcohol, drugs nor violence.
