Toyota Cheetahs will host Cell C Sharks in a much-awaited Currie Cup semifinal match at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday afternoon.

Cheetah’s coach Franco Smith says hosting the game could play to their advantage. This past weekend the Cheetahs qualified for the semifinals after beating DHL Western Province 38-33 in Bloemfontein.

In the other semifinal match, the Xerox Golden Lions will host Northern Cape side the Tafel Lager Griquas in Johannesburg.

In 2016, the Cheetahs emerged victorious in the cup campaign, beating the Blue Bulls 36-16 in the final in Bloemfontein. Smith comments on possibly playing in the finals.

Looking at the two sides record, both sides stand equally with four matches won and two lost each from six games.

The 47-year-old Smith from Lichtenburg in the North West shares on the mood in his camp.
