Highlands Park hold ten-man Sundowns to a draw

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A ten-man Mamelodi Sundowns were frustrated after drawing 0-0 with Highlands Park in an Absa Premiership match at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday evening.

Sundowns had a penalty appeal turned down in the first minute.

The Brazillians then found it very difficult to bridge a stubborn Highlands park defence in the first half.

The Lions of the North also had a chance to break the deadlock.

The half ended with both teams deadlocked.

Highlands got off to a good start in the second half but still failed to grab an early lead. Downs were then handed a blow when centre-back Ricardo Nascimento got red for dissent. This forced The Brazillians to make changes and they brought on Motjeka Madisha for Jeremy Brockie.

The best chance of the game undoubtedly found Wayne Arendse who saw his header brilliantly cleared off the line by Junior Sibande on 70 minutes.

As the clock wind down, Toni Silva made his entry for Meza in their second change of the encounter. It was almost a dream start for him, but after running down his marker fired to the side-netting.
