Winds are expected to exceed speeds of 80 kilometres per hour.

The Buffalo City Metro Municipality in East London in the Eastern Cape has again warned residents about high winds, as a cold front sweeps over the province.

The Municipality says the Weather Service has warned about strong winds on Sunday.

The winds are estimated to exceed speeds of 80 kilometres per hour.

The municipality’s spokesperson Samkelo Ngwenya says residents are welcome to phone their call centre at 0430508653 through the weekend.

Ngwenya says they stand ready to deal with any eventuality.

“Our disaster management, as well as emergency personnel officers, are on standby and we are also warning residents to also take caution in terms of their travel as they’re going about their businesses… they can contact our call centre at all times as we will be on operation throughout the weekend in case the weather predictions do come through.”
