High Court to deliver judgment on postponement of Zuma’s fraud and corruption case

The High Court in Pietermaritzburg will on Tuesday hand down judgment on former president Jacob Zuma’s application to have his fraud and corruption case postponed. On Monday, his lawyers argued that the virtual hearing of his case would compromise his right to a fair trial. But the National Prosecuting Authority dismissed that as another of the former president’s delaying tactics.

Zuma appeared in public on Monday in a virtual hearing for the first time since his arrest earlier this month.

His lawyer Dali Mpofu said forcing him to appear virtually was a violation of his right to a fair trial, but State Advocate Wim Trengove accused Zuma of moving the goalpost.
