Helen Zille has been elected the Democratic Alliance new Federal Council chairperson, after 155 delegates voted at the weekend.
The council meeting is took place at the DA headquarters in Johannesburg.
Some delegates had raised concerns about the voting system.
Helen Zille along with Athol Trollip, the Council’s Deputy chairperson Thomas Walters, and Deputy Chief whip Mike Waters were contesting the position.
The hotly-contested elections take place after the DA’s poor showing in this year’s national and provincial elections.
