The Cape Town Weather Office has called on people to remain hydrated and to avoid the outdoors as the province experiences heatwave conditions.

Senior Forecaster Henning Grobler says temperatures have climbed to about 40 degrees in some areas across the Cape Metropole. He says people should avoid the sun where possible.

“Stay out of the sun and drink a lot of water and just keep cool and not try to work outside with temperatures this high. Temperature going up to mid-30’s into the 40’s in some places. So keep out of the sun and drink a lot of water.”
