Healthcare workers who participated in the Sisonke Study at the beginning of the year will be eligible for booster shots from this Monday. The vaccines provide very good protection against severe disease and even death from COVID-19.
Spokesperson for the Department of Health Foster Mohale says they will keep the public informed when they will be eligible for the booster shot.
Mohale says only healthcare workers who participated in the first study will be eligible for the current booster shots
“The Department of Health together with the Medical Research Council will next week Monday commence with the inoculation of almost 500 000 healthcare workers with a booster shot of J&J under Sisonke Study.”
“This is merely targeting all the healthcare workers that received their J&J dose through the Sisonke Study 1, during the period between February and May this year. Sisonke booster vaccines will be offered at selected sites, that will be announced, across the country.”
