Police arrested seven cash-in-transit robbers who had made off with an undisclosed amount of money on Friday.

The Hawks have taken over an investigation into the robbery of a cash van in Lombardy east, north of Johannesburg.

Police arrested seven cash-in-transit robbers who had made off with an undisclosed amount of money on Friday.

The men were involved in a stand-off with police which lasted several hours.

A security officer and a female bystander were wounded after being caught in the crossfire.

The police’s Mathapelo Peters explains says, “Police have arrested seven suspects, all male, and have seized five firearms and ammunition as well as four vehicles… as stolen in Pretoria.”
