The Hawks have seized drugs with a street value of R4.7 million at a house in Westgate, Mitchell’s Plain in the Cape Flats.

Hawks spokesperson, Philani Nkwalase says officers confiscated 11 bags of mandrax tablets over the weekend.

He says arrests are expected to be made soon.

Nkwalase says the drugs were found hidden inside a vehicle and preliminary investigations revealed that the residence may have been used as a channel to distribute drugs in the area.

A total of 106 000 mandrax tablets were seized and efforts are underway to trace the suspects as well as the owner of the house.
