Hawks raid N West premier’s office

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Hawks in the North West province have raided the offices of the North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo and confiscated several documents.

The raid follows the ongoing alleged irregularities regarding an ICT company which has been allegedly given tenders irregularly.

The Hawks spokesperson Tlangelani Rikhotso has confirmed that they are investigating cases of fraud and corruption within several departments in the North West provincial government.

The Premier’s spokesperson Brian Setswangbung has confirmed the raid.

“The Hawks indeed have visited the offices of the Premier this morning… they’re still at the office. They are in possession of a search warrant relating to documents of a company that is contracted to the office of the Premier. You will remember recently documents about this company were illegally accessed from the office of the Premier and leaked to the Social media. So the warrant is about that…”

Last Friday a war of words broke out between Mahumapelo and Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi over the province’s mobile clinic contract linked to the Gupta company Mediosa.

Mahumapelo hit back at Motsoaledi over his description of the Mediosa project as “an ATM card” for the fugitive Gupta family.

Mahumapelo said Motsoaledi arrived at the clinic without courtesy to inform him.

It is expected The Hawks will give a media briefing on Thursday at 13H00.
