Two members of the Hawks and a detective have been arrested for allegedly stealing R1 million in armed robberies in Edenvale and Hillbrow in Gauteng.

The suspects were arrested by the Hawks on Monday after a lengthy investigation.

The officers have appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court and their case was postponed to 27 December 2017 for a formal bail application.

Hawks spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mulamu says, “Their arrest follows allegations that the police officials stopped a vehicle in Norwood alleging that the driver was driving recklessly. They found two boxes full of cash including a receipt. They allegedly off loaded those boxes of cash, where they shared over R1 million and returned the rest to the driver.”
