Happy Wanderers to host TS Sporting in Nedbank Cup

Reading Time: < 1 minute

KwaZulu-Natal side Happy Wanderers are through to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after they beat Cape Town’s Zizwe United 1-0 last night in an all ABC Motsepe League tie.

Mxolisi Mazibuko scored a wonderful direct free kick in the first half that proved to be the winning goal, as Wanderers were able to hold out the home side for the result. Wanderers Owner and coach Phumlani Ndwandwe says it was a tough game against Zizwe and he is so proud of his team for progressing.

Ndwandwe says this trip to Cape Town was a big experience for some of the players, many who had never been on an airplane before.

Wanderers will host Glad Africa Championship side TS Sporting in the next round, and Ndwandwe says they will take it one game at a time.

It was a disappointing result for Zizwe coach Julius Dube, who says his team failed to create enough scoring opportunities, especially in the first half.

Dube says Zizwe controlled the game but lost because of a good free-kick, and because they were unable to get the ball in the back of the net.Report by Rob Delport
