A grade eleven learner has died after allegedly being hit on the head with a brick by another learner at Sekhukhusa Secondary School in Shatale, near Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.
The Provincial Department of Education says an investigation is under way to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
Spokesperson for the Department, Gerald Sambo says the learner died on the way to a local clinic.
Sambo says the Department is disappointed and shocked by the incident.
“The Department condemns this incident and has already directed that the school provides a detailed report relating to the circumstances that led to this incident. Further more the Department conveys its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. The Department will send a team of officials to all who are affected by this incident.”
